[VOTE] Chukwa 0.6.0 release candidate 3
Hi folks,
Relase for Chukwa 0.6.0 rc2 was not closed. I have put together another
release candidate (rc3) for Chukwa 0.6.0. This rc fixes Solr schema issue
that
Shreyas reported.
The RC is available at:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/chukwa/tags/chukwa-0.6.0-rc3/
The artifacts are available at:
http://people.apache.org/~eyang/chukwa-0.6.0-rc3/
Site document is available at:
http://people.apache.org/~eyang/chukwa-0.6.0-rc3/site/
Please try this release and vote. The vote will run from now for 5 days.
Thank you
Regards,
Eric

Why do we have hadoop jars in this release?

Alan, please take a look of http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CHUKWA-725.
There is a patch that contains the report of Solr files with license
header. See if this meets your expectation. This will ensure any license
issue is expertise clearly and transparently. Thanks

<exclude>contrib/solr/logs/**</exclude>
are not data files and so seem to be incorrectly classified. It is this to which I've been referring to over the last view release candidate votes.

I understood your email to mean that the excludes with paths in the POM don’t work. So I made a simple ant file whose sole purpose is to run rat under Ant. This is what we do for Apache TOMEE.
If the excludes in the old POM do in fact work perfectly fine then I’m happy to move them back.

It may have been easier, if you just run mvn clean verify. Rat audit plugin

I’ve added a rat.xml file that can be run off of Ant; thanks TOMEE!
I’ve also applied the patch to trunk and copied trunk over to branches/chukwa-0.6.0 so we have a nice clean start.
Shall we cut another RC?

Re: [VOTE] Chukwa 0.6.0 release candidate 3
Posted by Eric Yang <er...@gmail.com>.
Alan, the list of exclude files are described in pom.xml. Maven does not
automatically make use of files in .rat-excludes file, therefore putting
the files in .rat-excludes only make the process more complicated, and more
difficult to maintain because .rat-excludes file does not support comments,
harder to identify which file belongs to which license. In addition, mvm
rat:check doesn't make use of .rat-excludes file by default. See:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/RAT-161. Therefore, there is no plan
to make use of .rat-excludes until that feature is supported in maven rat
plugin.

-1 there's still a lot of files missing their license header. We should probably create a rat exclusion file to make this work easier.
