   As per my understanding we at the time of reading the stream re-initialize the statistics 
   
   [CodePointer](https://github.com/apache/iceberg/blob/master/core%2Fsrc%2Fmain%2Fjava%2Forg%2Fapache%2Ficeberg%2Fhadoop%2FHadoopMetricsContext.java#L121-L124) :
   ```java
     private void readObject(ObjectInputStream in) throws ClassNotFoundException, IOException {
       in.defaultReadObject();
       statistics = FileSystem.getStatistics(scheme, null);
     }
   ```
   
   may be I am missing something here as well.
