[jira] [Closed] (ROL-1469) Obfuscate blog authors email address on
comment notifications
Glen Mazza closed ROL-1469.
---------------------------
Resolution: Not a Problem
The only email address apparently used today for messaging is defined in the roller-custom.properties file (or context.xml if JNDI is being used). In the Roller Install Guide, Section 6.2 "Using Server-provided database & mail resources (optional)" I added this sentence:
"Note the email account defined above will appear in the “From:” line of notification email messages sent to blog owners (and, if they select “Notify me of further comments”, blog commenters) so take care not to use a email account you wish to keep private."
This warning is a sufficient replacement for the email address obfuscation suggested in this JIRA--I'm not even sure how that would work, but it isn't worth the effort anyway, the warning above will suffice.

> When a user selects 'notify me of new comments' the email notifications show the blog authors email address. Obfuscating the blog authors email address would be optimal.
