It's not the "Apache Public License"

It's just the "Apache License".

http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/license.html
http://xml.apache.org/batik/license.html

Could the respective parties in charge of these pages please fix this?
Thanks.

But is it _really_ just the Apache License and not the Apache Software
License as the license file itself says ? Both these terms are used on
the website today, so are they both interchangeable and acceptable terms ?

Not to worry, Geir. I appreciated the joke as much as anyone (probably
more).

I realized after I hit 'send' (well, actually, <Alt>-<Enter> ) that the
above didn't come out right, and may be misinterpreted.

It was a reference to the high level of detail and effort that Ted
provided for the recently approved Commons project, as well as our
*long* :) discussions that we had in forming the Commons proposal.

He is extremely detail-oriented, very dedicated to making sure things
are organized and clear, and I wholly respect that.

I am greatly appreciative of the hard work that Ted does, and apologize
that the above could be interpreted in ways contrary to the respect he
deserves.

Last time I tried to start one, Roy shot it down and said he would write it
himself. That was about a year or two ago.

Not really, but one could be started.

My opinion, and this has been backed up by legal counsel on another
project I've been involved in, is that a short term reference is no less
legally defendable than including the whole license, in other words
legally it'd have the same effect; the ASF hasn't adopted that as a policy
yet, though, since there are parties who disagree. It's a topic for
discussion about licensing with the ASF's lawyers, so I'd hope we could
get an answer to that soon.

Brian,

Is there a resource page or FAQ regarding the proper use of the Apache
License by contributors?

Recently, we've been asked if it's appropriate to place the license at
the foot of a source file, or whether the full license can be
incorporated by reference using a "short form".

The references I have found so far are

< http://www.apache.org/LICENSE.txt > (sic)
