Sebb, this issue has now been closed twice. whimsy-vm2, ldap2-us-west, and PMB are in disparate data centers, and occasional connectivity issues are NORMAL. This is why our puppet ldap.conf specifies a list of servers for failover purposes.

All of our LDAP servers are puppetized and use the same configuration. There is no "Time Limit" setting that differs here. The server does not take longer than the others to perform the same query. 

I am not sure why you insist this is an ongoing problem and continue to re-open the issue. We've offered a workaround for code that can't fail over, which Sam accepted. 

I even went so far as to evaluate the connection to ldap2 from whimsy-vm2 for the last 4 hours every 5 minutes, and the response time is < 2 seconds for a full query of the public group. I will continue to evaluate this over the next day or so, but I do not expect any significant deviations.

Virtually everyone in Infra has evaluated this at this point, and it is deemed to not be an issue. Please do not re-open this ticket unless you have a VERIFIABLE and REPRODUCIBLE problem.
