[jira] [Created] (CAMEL-25591) camel-report-maven-plugin - read Java routes with the Java DSL parser instead of camel-route-parser
Claus Ibsen created CAMEL-25591:
-----------------------------------
Summary: camel-report-maven-plugin - read Java routes with the Java DSL parser instead of camel-route-parser
Key: CAMEL-25591
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CAMEL-25591
Project: Camel
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: tooling
Reporter: Claus Ibsen
Fix For: 4.24.0
{{camel-report-maven-plugin}} reads Java routes with camel-route-parser (Roaster/JDT): {{camel:route-coverage}} builds the node tree of each route to match the route coverage data, and {{camel:validate}} reads the endpoint uris, simple expressions and route ids.
Both only use the line number of a node (not columns or offsets), which the Java DSL parser of camel-java-io gives for every node of the Camel model it reads (CAMEL-25148), without compiling the source. The parser resolves constants of the same class, String.format and the endpoint DSL, and the tree is built from the same model the route coverage dump at runtime is made from.
h3. Proposal
* route-coverage: build the node tree of Java routes from the model the Java DSL parser reads, with the same rules as the XML tree (EIPs with input or output, when/otherwise left out).
* validate: read the endpoints, simple expressions and route ids of Java routes from that model; parts the parser cannot work out are skipped.
* XML routes stay as they are. camel-route-parser stays (IDE tooling uses it).
