Generate Classes without cayenne modeler

I am using Cayenne Modeler for class generation. I was wondering, can I
create classes by my self and use it or do I have to depend on Cayenne
Modeler for class generation ?

Many people use the cgen ant/maven goal to generate classes without using modeler. In fact you can build that into your regular build cycle so they are always up to date and in sync with the model.

Or you can use something completely different and do it yourself.
