Jackrabbit wih commons-logging instead of slf4j
I'm working on a project that is already using commons logging. We
recently added Jackrabbit and would like to be able to remove the slf4j
dependency in Jackrabbit so that we do not have two different loggers. Is
there any way to configure Jackrabbit to use commons-logging instead of
slf4j? Or, is there an existing wrapper or implementation of slf4j over
commons-logging? I know that slf4j has built in support for
commons-logging, however, this would have the opposite effect... I could
use it to make the rest of my project use slf4j instead of making
Jackrabbit use commons-logging. I am relatively new to playing around
with the different logging libraries, so I appreciate the input.
Thanks,
Joe.

I know the reasons behind slf4j (static vs dynamic solving), but just
wanted to clarify this to the OP.

You're right. In fact slf4j is quite similar in principle, though the
implementation is much simpler and avoids all class loading issues
related to commons-logging. See JCR-215 for more background on why we
chose slf4j over commons-logging.

Is clogging really logging something? Because I was quite sure it is
just a wrapper for other loggers.

The beauty of slf4j is that you'll never need to rewrite things to use
different logging frameworks. Instead of being a full logging
framework, slf4j is actually a facade for various different
frameworks.
Just replace the default slf4j-log4j dependency (and log4j) with
slf4j-jcl (and commons-logging), and Jackrabbit will happily log
through commons-logging. :-)
