use plugin "docbook" offline: DTD check failed

Sorry if this is a freqently asked question:

I tried to use "docbook:transform" _offline_ with my laptop and got

--- CUT HERE ---
[msk@skopp asap-project]$ maven -o docbook:transform
[..]
docbook:transform:
        [style] Transforming into target/generated-xdocs
    [style] Processing src/docbook/Meeting-2.xml to
target/generated-xdocs/Meeting-2.xml
    [style] Loading stylesheet
/opt/packages/maven/plugins/maven-docbook-plugin-1.0/plugin-resources/docbook2document.xsl
    [style] : Fatal Error! java.net.UnknownHostException:
www.oasis-open.org Cause: java.net.UnknownHostException:
www.oasis-open.org
    [style] Failed to process src/docbook/Meeting-2.xml

Well, it seems that the XSLT Processor (xalan, isn't it?) tries to check
against the DTD (via the ANT style target).

Yes, I specified the DTD inside the XML document. Since I use a catalog
file for docbook I am able to use and check against the DTD offline
during editing (JEdit is able to use catalog files via it's own DTD
resolver).

Yes, it helps if I remove the DTD from the XML! Tested already this
workaround. But I love to have the DTD inside the XML file!

Could someone please change the DTD check or update the plugin
description to with a short note that for offline usage no DTD should be
specified?

FYI, Jason and dIon, I usally do docbook to html/pdf transformation
offline as well - just wanted to check the docbook capabilities of
maven. I have a own java source code here to invoke the transformation
(XSLT/Fop) which works with a Suns DTD resolver and apache-tools. If
you want the source for the change, just drop me a short mail. (I have
to check the used libs, possible a OpenSource lic is available for the
DTD resolver...)

Here's the Docbook-XML file header (of src/docbook/Meeting-2.xml):
--- CUT HERE ---
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<!DOCTYPE article PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1.2//EN"
<article lang="en">
...
--- CUT HERE ---

Thanks for help,
Martin

At the time we implemented that for our documentation, we did not found open source for offline docbook translation (and ants "style" was not able to do it at that time).

Could you please mail me/post a few links to the tons of files? Thanks a lot.
And I also appreciate very much if maven's docbook:translate could run offline.

Thnx
Martin

Martin,

the style task might be able to use an xmlcatalog from ant. there are a
TON of files that need to be available for offline docbook usage. The
tapestry guys just went through this, so I'll see if this can be brought
over.
