Patches
Hi,
there are lots of issues with patches attached. Why are they not applied to trunk?
If you need help identifying them, just grant me the necessary JIRA permissions and I'll flag them with "Patch available".
It's quiet annoying when you fix a bug and get no feedback for your contribution. I've a customer who is really frustrated about this.
Cheers

Just to bring this up once more. In other projects we adjust the initially priority after the bug is reported, but if it's not the case for the Axis project, you're right to ignore it. Votes and watches as indicator is fine for me.
Would be great to hear if patches will be applied for 1.7.6/ 1.8, otherwise I would advise to kickoff CXF migration projects.
Cheers

Priority is (initially) chosen by the reporter and is very subjective.
I've seen bugs reported as blockers or critical even though the
reporter himself actually acknowledged the existence of a workaround.
The number of votes is a better indicator. There is also the number of
watchers, which can give an idea of the interest in a particular bug
(Although depending on settings, JIRA automatically adds people who
comment on a bug as watchers).

Well, I could only name the ones that I'm personally interested in, but this sounds unfair.
So I think we should use priority and votes:

This is a subset of open issues which have an attached patch. I agree regarding AXIS2-3278, this one should not have been on the list, I missed the comment.
For the rest there should be at least some feedback (e.g. please create a unittest, cannot apply patch due to ...).

I'm asking this because a lot of proposed patches lack unit tests,
don't address the issue in the right way or have other problems.

MG>for example AXIS2-3278 posted in 07 (last commented by Sagara)
When setting the value useOriginalwsdl to true in a services.xml and not providing a wsdl file in your directory the following message occurs:
Unable to generate WSDL 1.1 for this service If you wish Axis2 to automatically generate the WSDL 1.1, then please +set useOriginalwsdl as false in your services.xml
Proposed Solution with Patch:
However, it would be better if a customizable error message (including a blank message) could be returned or even better allow the behavior to return different http error codes like 404 where the wsdl is effectively hidden without giving a clue that it exists.
MG>In 2012 Sagara mentions " we have lived with existing approach for a long time and we need to know what other users think about this. Can you send a mail to both dev and user list with your suggestion ?"

"Unable to generate WSDL 1.1 for this serviceIf you wish Axis2 to automatically generate the WSDL 1.1, then please +set useOriginalwsdl as false in your services.xml"
MG>rather than returning 404 for missing wsdl
