[jira] [Commented] (INFRA-8953) GitHub mirror does not contain tag
for REEF

Brian Cho commented on INFRA-8953:
----------------------------------
Hi Daniel,
First, thank you for the manual push.
Second, can you clarify a couple things for me?
1. I think I understand how this works for new branches: (a) create a new branch (b) make an empty/whitespace commit to the new branch.
2. However, I don't see how this can be applied to tags. AFAIK, you can't "commit" to a tag; the tag just identifies a commit. Will I have to make a empty/whitespace commit after creating the tag? (If then, to which branch?)

> The GitHub mirror for REEF (https://github.com/apache/incubator-reef) is not reflecting the tag "release-0.10.0-incubating-rc1" although the ASF git repos show it (https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf?p=incubator-reef.git).
> Is there a way to trigger the mirroring of git tags that I'm not aware of?
> Possibly related: awhile back, I created the branch "branch-0.10.0-incubating" and it did not mirror until I made a commit to it.
