Can't get Apache and Tomcat talking to each other

I've tried to follow the directions in your "Tomcat+Apache-HOWTO" file and I
can't seem to get them to communicate.  Apache is working normally,
operating on port 80.  Tomcat runs just fine if I use http://<hostname>:8080
but I can't get http://<hostname>/examples to work (like your instructions
say).  I've included tomcat.conf in the httpd.conf file and I put the
mod_jserv.so file in /path/to/apache/libexec directory.

I'm using Red Hat Linux 6.1, JDK 1.2.2, Apache 1.3.9, and Tomcat 3.0.

Can you offer any help?  If not, can you point me to a newsgroup or
some-such where I can plead for help?
