0.9.x to 0.10.x - sorting

Will this version change represent a problem for some build systems that use lexicographical sorting on version strings?
Any reason not to go from 0.9.x to 1.0.0?

Agree, we still have some work to do before we tag 1.0, do not want to rush
it and would like to get to a better release cadence first before
considering a 1.0 rc

semantically 1.0 is a lot different from 0.10. I would not +1 a v1.0
release just yet.
