Reading pivot table

Hello all,
  
 I am studying using POI to read the data in .xls files.
 Is it possible to read pivot tables in .xls files?
 If yes, could somebody give me a sample code?

here are some limitation of POI.
Why not export the XLS into plain-txt file?

did you have a look at Talend as an alternative.
it creates Java classes that can be used in your app.
