SHA-Does the entire file get loaded into memory

Hello Everyone,
   I am looking at using the SHA algorithm to sort of fingerprint videos.
 As we know, videos can get quite large and the SHA algo takes a ByteArray
as an argument. My question is will the entire file be read into memory to
get the hash value.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
