This will happen when the next release of Avro is made. A release candidate was [voted on 2 weeks ago|http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/avro-dev/201512.mbox/%3CCAF-WD4QZJZwkF--BDkoO3TVRaDx43qbreqyaFfUrHTqL9nFZhQ%40mail.gmail.com%3E], but there was a bug in the Ruby gem packaging (AVRO-1772). [~tomwhite] said he'd roll a new RC in the new year.
