compiling xalan with gcc-2.96
I am trying to build xalan on RedHat Linux 7.0, which unfortunately has
version 2.96 of gcc instead of the supported 2.95.2.
The first error that I am getting is that -instances=static is not a valid
cpp directive. Does anyone know a work-around for this?
I don't know if it's necessary or not. I tried removing it and got a
compilation error in XSLT/ElemApplyTemplates.cpp (I'm not sure if it was
related, but I was able to get it all to compile on a Mandrake installation
with 2.95.2 last week). Unfortunately I'm in the middle of reinstalling
RedHat so I can't get the exact error message right now. I was just
wondering whether there was any discussion of this already and if so could
someone give me a title to look for in the archives.
Thanks,
Anne
