[jira] [Commented] (NETBEANS-1035) Make HTML api public

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-1035?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16574478#comment-16574478 ]

Christian Lenz commented on NETBEANS-1035:
------------------------------------------

The Problem with friend APIs is already that your plugin, 3rd-party-plugin has to be a friend to make a plugin. So no one can create any plugins for NB 8.2 or 9.0 anymore, if your plugin is not a friend. It doesn't matter how old an IDE is, if you still use 8.0 or 8.2, maybe because of reasons and you want to make a plugin, it is not possible, becaue it is blocked and you don't have access to it.

> There are already 21 "friends" using html.editor and html.editor.lib - IMHO a good indicator it should be public.
>
> However, I do need the API for implementing a Wicket module, so , if it will take too long to make it public, probably make org.netbeans.modules.web.wicket another friend of these modules and tell me how to use it within a Maven based NetBeans module.
