           Summary: [logging] Need Log.close method
           Product: Commons
           Version: 1.0.4
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows 2000
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P2
         Component: Logging
        AssignedTo: commons-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: apache.org@ishepherd.co.uk

I can't see a way to tell Commons Logging to close a log. There is
LogFactory.release(), but it is specified only as releasing references.

This is causing me a problem when using Logging with log4j's TelnetAppender.
Because I can't shut down the logging, the appender never closes down its
sockets; this prevents my application from exiting properly.
