Apologies for the repetition of mails

I'm really really sorry that I have been sending loads of copies of a
message to the Avalon dev and PMC list.

I had upgraded my mail server without seeing bugs, but unfortunately it
came out that sending to multiple addresses triggers repetitive sending.
When I found out, it was too late.

Sorry again, and thank you all for managing this.

If you are running UNIX, PostFix is a great project. www.postfix.org

FWIW, during the James v2.1 timeframe, Peter Goldstein and I did a lot of
memory tuning, and I've done more since. Can't do anything about basic JVM
costs, and there are some things in Avalon/Phoenix that take up too much
memory (primarily related to the XML parser, IIRC), but it takes less memory
than before.

I also tried using James at first , but due to memory etc, switched over
to a
native mail server. That was quite a while ago and I have been meaning to
take another look at James.

But anyway, I am using a program called XMail for my main mail server.
And also running an instance on my notebook so I am able to send emails
from where ever I happen to be connected. It is very lightweight and so far
has been very well behaved for everything I have used it for. Might want to
take a look.

I should have ;-)

I have James on my company Intranet and it's working fine.

I didn't want to have to install it on my computer, as you know how
"well" Java behaves with memory, so I went with PostCast Server
http://www.postcastserver.com/ that was a native app. "Was", because I'm
not using it anynore now :-PPPPostcast

I'm now using my ISP as a relay, but it's so slooow at accepting mails,
so eventually I'll use James too :-)

Doubt it - all my message (including this one) go out though
James without problem.

Cheers, Steve.

Does this mean we now know the number of subscribers to this list? :)

We understand, and assumed it was a server error. Glad to see things
working again for you. :)
