RE: Invoking a standalone Tomcat to serve pages without the port address :8080
go to the server.xml file which is in the conf directory and change the
following line:
<Connector className="org.apache.tomcat.service.SimpleTcpConnector">
<Parameter name="handler"
value="org.apache.tomcat.service.http.HttpConnectionHandler"/>
<Parameter name="port" value="8080"/>
</Connector>
to:
<Connector className="org.apache.tomcat.service.SimpleTcpConnector">
<Parameter name="handler"
value="org.apache.tomcat.service.http.HttpConnectionHandler"/>
<Parameter name="port" value="80"/>
</Connector>
(the only change is the in the line "<Parameter name="port" value="80"/>"
the value is 80 instead of 8080)
This set's the Tomcat webserver to serve on the standart HTTP port (which is
80).

Subject: Invoking a standalone Tomcat to serve pages without the port
address :8080
Hi All
I would like to invoke Tomcat to serve pages to my browser using the
following syntax:
http://localhost <http://localhost>
It would appear that you must add the port address as well in order to get
it to work like the following:
http://localhost:8080 <http://localhost:8080>
Does anyone know if Tomcat can be configured so you don't have to use the
port address?
