[jira] [Created] (SQOOP-541) Not implemented by the DistributedFileSystem FileSystem implementation

Rajesh Koilpillai created SQOOP-541:
---------------------------------------

             Summary: Not implemented by the DistributedFileSystem FileSystem implementation
                 Key: SQOOP-541
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SQOOP-541
             Project: Sqoop
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: hive-integration
    Affects Versions: 1.4.1-incubating
            Reporter: Rajesh Koilpillai

We are getting a UnsupportedOperationException trying to sqoop import, not sure what the reason is. Other commands like list-tables, list-databases are working fine without any issues.

Cheolsoo Park commented on SQOOP-541:
-------------------------------------

Hi Rajesh,

The call stack suggests that the sqoop that you're running is not compatible with CDH-4.0.1. Given CDH-4.0.1 contains Hadoop-2.0.0, Sqoop must also be compiled against Hadoop-2.0.0.

{code}
sqoop-1.4.1-cdh4.0.0/bin$ sqoop create-hive-table --connect jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/sqoop --username root --password root --table foo1
{code}

Looking at your commands, I am wondering whether you're executing the installed sqoop rather than the one in your working directory. Can you please verify that you still see this problems even if you do the following?

{code}
sqoop-1.4.1-cdh4.0.0$ SQOOP_HOME=`pwd` ./bin/sqoop create-hive-table --connect jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/sqoop --username root --password root --table foo1
{code}

This will ensure that you're using the sqoop in your working directory.

Thanks!

> We are getting a UnsupportedOperationException trying to sqoop import, not sure what the reason is. Other commands like list-tables, list-databases are working fine without any issues.
