[ApacheFlex] tag
Hi,
It can be confusing to read emails when this mailing list is without a
[ApacheFlex] tag, let add that.
Re: [ApacheFlex] tag

one user may had joined more 2 or 3 groups.. in that case it adds
confusion.

Bingo - and I'm not sure if we could put a constant [marker] in the
subject line anyway.
Best is to filter on the List-Id: <flex-dev.incubator.apache.org> header.

I think the lack of the descriptor tag here is actually a bonus because
when there is one ie:
[Vote]
[Discuss]
they jump out from the noise much more.

It can be confusing if you use an email client that doesn't thread
discussions.
It can also be confusing if you don't use email filtering.
Many Mailing lists add a descriptor tag to subject of all emails it
sends out; and many use that tag for filtering purposes. I'm not sure
if it's needed here because we can filter on the actual mailing list
address.
I'm relatively indifferent to putting it in or not. It's easy for me
to filter the list based on the from address.

Fair point. I don't doubt the good intent of the suggestion and i was abrupt in my reply, but...
I do think it would remain unnecessary noise. Noise which is more apparent when a genuine prefix is used [VOTE] etc
If intended to help newbie, it only helps until they learn/decide to use filters - which is imo both advisable and inevitable. There are already a unique headers in the list email on which to filter as mentioned by Bertrand:

I'm neutral to the proposal. However I'd like to clarify something which
some seem to have misunderstood: the proposal is to configure the list
server to add this tag to the subject line automatically. No-one writing
mails to the list would have to do anything different.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
That's the exact setup here as well.
No added tags and no problems with filtering.
Easy to find what I'm looking for.

Completely agree with Omar. Just a quick filter and you're good to go. I
have 3 mailboxs now: flex-commits, flex-dev, flex-users

Most mail clients have mail rules u can use to sort mail from flex-dev@,
that's not enough?
Think it's a little much to ask everyone to tag every email to this list.

What is confusing exactly?
I would think it more confusing (and laborsome) to have the ApacheFlex tag
and whatever possible subject tag.

You are using Gmail so you can filter these messages and let Gmail add a
tag automatically. Use the 'Filter messages like this' option in a message.

Rather than filtering, adding Tag is good. Think about new user joined to
this group. Later always u can filter if u want

Email filters.
I have the email automagically moved to a folder called Apache Flex,
which I then review at my leisure.

I don't understand. Everything on this mailing list is [ApacheFlex]. You
could filter everything from this mailing list into an ApacheFlex or
flex-dev folder if you like.
