[jira] [Created] (DIRSTUDIO-853) The ApacheDS version should be present in the server property, even for milestones

Emmanuel Lecharny created DIRSTUDIO-853:
-------------------------------------------

Summary: The ApacheDS version should be present in the server property, even for milestones
                 Key: DIRSTUDIO-853
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSTUDIO-853
             Project: Directory Studio
          Issue Type: Improvement
    Affects Versions: 2.0.0-M3
            Reporter: Emmanuel Lecharny
             Fix For: 2.0.0-M4

When we create an Apacheds server, you can pick one of many different versions. Thats ok. When you select 1.5.3, it stores this version in the property. However, when you select 2.0.0, you don't know if it's a M3, M6 or M8.

It would be good to always have the version specified, including the milstone number.

[jira] [Commented] (DIRSTUDIO-853) The ApacheDS version should be present in the server property, even for milestones

Pierre-Arnaud Marcelot commented on DIRSTUDIO-853:
--------------------------------------------------

That's because the Apache 2.0.0 LDAP Server plugin is supposed to ship with the final 2.0.0 version.
So, at the moment, we keep the same plugin but gradually increment the milestone underneath when a new version is available.

If we want to support all milestone version separately, we would need a dedicated plugin for each version and in that case we could add the milestone information.

But, isn't it a bit excessive to have and maintain a plugin for each milestone version ?
That's what I thought at first.
