java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

Hello List!
One morning my tomcat server went down and I got the following in the logs.
Can anybody tell me if the out of memory error could have anything to do
with the server crashing?
 I'm running the application with JAVA_OPTS='-Xms512m -Xmx1500m'
Thanks in advance and HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
