FYI; still applicable with the latest snapshot. I've track this down.
If I do mvn install for the related snapshot it's ok (-> goes in a X.Y.Z-SNAPSHOT directory with the right name). If I do mvn deploy I get the timestamped version in the repository created by the assembly plugin
