I guess your classpath is somehow mixed up.  As mentioned in JCR-4725 jcr-server-2.14.8 uses Apache Tika 1.18 which uses Apache PDFBox 2.0.9,  see [pom.xml|http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/jackrabbit/tags/jackrabbit-2.14.8/jackrabbit-parent/pom.xml?view=markup]. This should work out of the box as long as you add all needed jars to your classpath.

You should start testing PDFBox standalone using the jars from your classpath. Try to extract the text. If everything works, try Tika as next step and so on.
