Validating generated key

Dear members,


I have to validate against the database, the email confirmation key sent in
the ReturnURL (which was generated as part of registration in
UserRegistrationPortlet).

eg:
http://localhost:8080/jetspeed/portal/?newUserGUID=5e0c2c678e55b354

What would be the right place to do this validation? Do I have to right my
own valve?
