Can a configurable good also be a manufactured item where the components
of the product changes based on the configuration on the sales Order


Let's say there are 4 components


Table Top
Legs
Stretcher
Hardware


Each of these items are a config item to the product and have different
options that can be selected in which the price as well as component can
change based on the selection on the sales order.  Also If you select a
certain table top then there are only a certain time of legs you can
select.


Once the order is complete we would need a Production Order created with
the correct Routing from the base product but with the correct
components from the order.  Is this possible OTB?

In ofbiz we can easy to create sub config item with multiple selection.

Let's go with your given 4 components:

Table Top (virtual product has 3 Variant 1.round table top 2. square table
top 3.rectangular table top.
Legs (virtual product has 3 Variant 1.round leg 2. square leg
Stretcher (Finished Good)
Hardware (Finished Good)

After create all above four types of products.Create configurations of all
types of items.Go to catalogue manager -> Configurations
Add Products Configs in config item.
