[VOTE] Release Configuration 2.0-alpha1 based on RC1

Hi all,

this is a vote for the first alpha version of [configuration] 2.0 based
on the first release candidate.

Please note the following points:
- This release is according to the "release often and early" mantra. It
is not yet perfect (e.g. there are lots of checkstyle errors, and it is
expected that there are still some API changes). The purpose is to get
feedback from the community regarding the new concepts implemented in
this version. I hope, I have made this clear in the release notes.
- In the past we decided that alpha releases should not go to Maven
central. Therefore, I did not deploy the artifacts to Nexus; only the
distributions were created.
- The clirr report is not very helpful because the packages have been
renamed. A SNAPSHOT version of the site which was created immediately
before the renaming of the packages can be found at
http://people.apache.org/~oheger/configuration-2.0-prealpha
The clirr report in this version is more meaningful.

Configuration 2.0-alpha1 RC1 is available for review here:
    https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/commons/configuration
(revision 6573)

Details of changes since 1.10 are in the release notes:

https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/commons/configuration/RELEASE-NOTES.txt

Please review the release candidate and vote.

Thank you for keeping commons-configuration rolling Oliver. I'm +1 for
the alpha release, I'll try to post my observations regarding the API in
a separate thread.

Continuum help is via the builds mailing list or BUILD JIRA.

I have added a local build definition which is the same as the group
definition except for Build Fresh
(Unfortunately Continuum does not allow local overrides)
The build has now run successfully.

If you want to maintain builds in future, create yourself a login and
ask to be added to the Commons group on the builds mailing list.

Continuum obviously has the problem that its workspace is not
up-to-date. It still contains the classes of the old configuration
package which has been renamed to configuration2. I think it could help
to change the attribute "complete checkout" in the build definition from
*false* to *true*, but I do not seem to have the rights to do this. Do I
have to create an infra ticket, or who can help?

I do not see any showstoppers for an alpha. The reports include work to do
as expected for an alpha. Importantly the RAT report is clean. The POM
refers to a lot of old versions for jars. I would update those (Xerces
2.6.2? Wow!)

+1

Note that the CI build failed:
https://continuum-ci.apache.org/continuum/buildResult.action?projectId=72&projectName=&buildId=37019&projectGroupId=0

'mvn clean site' works for me with:

Apache Maven 3.2.3 (33f8c3e1027c3ddde99d3cdebad2656a31e8fdf4;
2014-08-11T16:58:10-04:00)
Maven home: C:\Java\apache-maven-3.2.3
Java version: 1.7.0_67, vendor: Oracle Corporation
Java home: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_67\jre
Default locale: en_US, platform encoding: Cp1252
OS name: "windows 7", version: "6.1", arch: "amd64", family: "windows"
