For the IPMC, just leave the vote open for at least 72 hours with no
specific close time. I might have time to look at it this afternoon for
your 3rd IPMC if no one beats me to it.

Thanks for outlining the missing IPMC vote Flavio, thanks for the
clarification Richard, and sorry all for my misinterpretation and for
the noise on this list.

It seems that typically mentors vote for releases, and that counts as
IPMC votes, unfortunately we now only have 2 mentors for S4 (both +1'ed).

At this point, I believe that we should ask for another IPMC to vote for
the release, by sending a specific vote request, even though the vote
expired, is this correct? Should we set a timeframe for the vote (I
don't see that in previous similar requests)?

Thanks,

Matthieu

OK, I see.

However, if you read on further, the text calls for another vote on
the general incubator list.

I agree that it is not very clear ... I've added a bit more info which
hopefully clarifies it.

Where exactly is this info?

PPMC votes don't count; only IPMC votes count when voting on a
release. [Other types of vote may have different rules.]
This is because releases are made on behalf of the ASF, and only the
IPMC is an official ASF committee.

Yes, and thanks Richard for helping here! Following your suggestion, I
had reopened the vote "for at least 72 hours with no specific close
time". I'll post the updated results tomorrow (monday).

The vote did not pass, and he reopened it already. The vote was shy by 1
binding IPMC vote. I gave it a binding +1 a couple of days ago. It should
be good now, it just needs another result message, this time showing the 3
IPMC votes.

I'm not sure the vote passed. According to Patrick Hunt's message, we need 3 +1 IPMC votes, and we only have 2 +1 IPMC votes. The confusing perhaps comes from this sentence in the podling release management manual:

"The vote passes if there are at least 3 +1's from the PPMC/IPMC members and more +1's than -1's. "

which can be interpreted as 3 +1 votes from either PPMC or IPMC. Some e-mail threads on archive indicate that it is not this way, though, and we need 3 +1 IPMC votes. Could anyone clarify, please?
