[jira] Created: (DERBY-1818) Renable largeCodeGen test to run with 10,000 UNIONs.

Renable largeCodeGen test to run with 10,000 UNIONs.
----------------------------------------------------

                 Key: DERBY-1818
                 URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-1818
             Project: Derby
          Issue Type: Task
          Components: Test
    Affects Versions: 10.2.2.0, 10.3.0.0
            Reporter: A B
            Priority: Minor

Now that a fix for DERBY-1315 has been checked into 10.3 (and ported to 10.2) the lang/largeCodeGen.java test should be updated to run with10,000 unions. But that said, the 10,000 union test case requires 512M available memory and maxxes out my CPU for 10 minutes before completing--which begs the question of whether or not the test should be enabled as part of derbyall or as part of some other suite.

I admit that I haven't done much investigation here, but I don't know when I'll have a chance to do that investigation so I'm creating this Jira task for tracking. I separated this out from DERBY-1315 because the code-side changes for that issue have already been committed and I think it's better to mark that issue as "resolved" sooner rather than later. Also, it seems like the largeCodeGen test ties several Jira issues together so re-enabling the 10,000 union case may not be as trivial as it sounds. See esp. DERBY-759, DERBY-766.
