Increasing the no of Threads/ Users dynamically

Hi,
I have a requirement like. I should start load testing on a server with
10 threads and every 5 mins I should increase the no of threads by 5. Ex:
start the test with No of threads = 10, ramp up period= 5*60 seconds, after
5 mins I want to increase the thread count to 15. Is there is a way to
implement this requirement with JMeter.

RE: Getting LoadRunner style reports from JMeter data

Hi, Sudip

For question no 1 look at
http://code.google.com/p/jmeter-plugins/wiki/ActiveThreadsOverTime
Also take alook at other plugins at http://code.google.com/p/jmeter-plugins/
and maybe there's more of them useful for you

Best wishes,
Andrey

Subject: Getting LoadRunner style reports from JMeter data

Hi,

Does anyone know how to create loadrunner style reports from JMeter?

I basically need a individual/overlapping graph of the following data
against time:
1. Running Threads/Virtual Users over Time
2. Average Transaction Response Time (for each Transaction) over Time
3. Errors Per Second (by Description) over Time
4. Throughput over Time
5. Hits per Second over Time

There are other reports in LoadRunner as well, which show the different
parameters over time. The Horizontal Axis shows the Time, while the Vertical
Axis provides one of the details.
In my initial experimentation with JMeter, I have only got a single value of
average time over the entire test period. What I need is the running average
over the entire time range for each time slot.

Is there any way to log the data into a CSV file, and then run a program on
the csv to generate these graphs?
Or some excel template into which the JMeter data can be pasted to get the
graphs?

Regards,
Sudip

The SteppingThreadGroup plugin requires the latest nightly builds version of JMeter.
Have you installed that? Get the nightly builds.

Hi,
I have installed the plugin mentioned in the below like but it is not
working properly. The other option of having seperate thread groups. Any
idea of dynamically increasing the no of thread suppose for I want to
increase the load by 5 threads every 5 seconds till the server breaks down.
How can I be sure of no of thread groups required coz i'll not be having the
maximum no with me.
Any suggestions are welcome...

Thanks
