   @connorgoggins The segment fault happens in [line 485 of src/operator/tensor/la_op-inl.h](https://github.com/apache/incubator-mxnet/blob/master/src/operator/tensor/la_op-inl.h#L485), when the index `j * (N + 1)` is larger than the maximum value of int32 range (`2**31-1`). 
   
   Since `N = 2**16` in this case, when `int j` is incremented to a value larger than `2**15-1`, the segment fault happens.
