Tim Thorpe commented on AMBARI-17465:
-------------------------------------
All testing was done manually which included running the following commands:
ambari-server install-mpack --mpack=/root/mpacks/hdp-ambari-mpack-1.0.0.0.tar.gz --purge -v
ambari-server install-mpack --mpack=/root/mpacks/myservice-ambari-mpack-1.0.0.0.tar.gz -v
ambari-server install-mpack --mpack=/root/mpacks/myservice2-ambari-mpack-1.0.0.0.tar.gz -v
ambari-server install-mpack --mpack=/root/mpacks/myextension-1.0.0.0.tar.gz -v
The first 3 tar.gz files were created by Jayush. I built the myextension-1.0.0.0.tar.gz.

> Currently management packs (AMBARI-14854) can only add stacks and addon services. Now that AMBARI-12885 has been resolved, the management packs should be able to add extensions as well. This would allow the following mpack.json:
> {
> "type" : "fullrelease",
> "name" : "MyExtension",
> "version": "1.0.0.0",
> "description" : "My Management Pack",
> "prerequisites": {
> "minambariversion" : "2.4"
> },
> "artifacts": [
> {
> "name" : "EXT-extension",
> "type" : "extension-definition",
> "source_dir": "extensions/EXT/1.0",
> "extension_name" : "EXT",
> "extension_version" : "1.0"
> }
> ]
> }
> or alternately with extension-definitions (which will include all extensions listed in the extensions directory):
> "artifacts": [
> {
> "name" : "MyExtensions",
> "type" : "extension-definitions",
> "source_dir": "extensions"
> }
> ]
> myext-mpack1.0.0.0
> ├── mpack.json
> └── extensions
> └── EXT
> └── 1.0
> └── metainfo.xml
> └── services
> └── HAWQ
> └── metainfo.xml
> └── PXF
> └── metainfo.xml
> It could then be installed with the following command:
> ambari-server install-mpack --mpack=/tmp/myext-mpack1.0.0.0.tar.gz -v
