I think that's a fine idea. 

How about a publication at the Jakarta level that included news from all
the products?

We could make better use of the News and Status page, and then wrap it
up into a regular email edition to distribute by Jakarta-Announce. We
could also forward Jakarta-Announce to editorial lists, as Eduardo 
suggests.

If everyone doesn't want to apply for write status to Site2, I'll
volunteer to accept items to post there.
