[GitHub] [incubator-ponymail-foal] sebbASF opened a new issue #57: Inconsistent calendar for searches

sebbASF opened a new issue #57:
URL: https://github.com/apache/incubator-ponymail-foal/issues/57

When searching for a term, the lhs calendar is updated to show the range of dates for which the term is present.

e.g. if the term is not present in the current month, then that is disabled in the calendar.

However the calendar still shows clickable months for dates which are outside the scope of the current search.
For example if the most recent match is the current month, but the search is for mails over a year old, it will still show clickable entries for recent months. And it shows clickable months for dates before the scope of the search.

   That is inconsistent.

It might make more sense if the calendar showed clickable entries for all months which contain the search term, regardless of age.

It's not expensive at all; one can use an aggregation. All the records are anyway scanned to generate the first and last entries. The stats.lua version already does this.

I'm thinking that could be a very costly search, if you were to search for all months that had the search regardless of the time scope of the search. The calendar wasn't really meant for custom searches, and the click-throughs are not really related to the search itself, so perhaps it should be disabled altogether when doing a search (that is, not viewing a specific list without search terms).
