Download OO v4.1.0 for MAC OS X v8.5 (i7, 8GB memory Hard Drive)
Re your download page 08.02.2014 for v4.1.0: http://www.openoffice.org/download/
I have tried 5 times to download with no result. I get only partial
downloads (I think as it will not open DMG file when finished with
what is purported to be a full download). I currently use OO v4.0.1
and found download easy and the software useful(thanks for your
efforts).
Can you offer a DVD for me to purchase and have sent to my home for
use? Or, alternatively, another site(?).
I tried to use OO v4.0.1 with the new OS for MAC (OSXv9.4 on same
machine) and it will not even open(??). Thus, I have to return back
to original OS (OS X V8.5) for MAC
Any help would be appreciated as (being retired and such) I like the app.

Before you jump on buying a DVD, I just downloaded it from:

βIt is a slow download, about 15 to 220 kilobytes/s.

Any error message? Sounds like GateKeeper is keeping it from opening. See the following:

Both AOO 4.0.1 and 4.1.0 work on my Mac with OSX ver.10.9.4. Sounds like GateKeeper security
settings problem. See above.
