space for infra meetup

Infra would like to hold a meetup directly after ACEU. Is there some space left for a few (max. 10)
people on fri 9/sat 10?

Looks like most travels from Heidelberg to Stuttgart are without stops
in between, except the S-Bahn you have to take. You could always check
that by yourself using this site:

 -> https://www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml

Departure: Heidelberg Hbf
Destination: Flughafen/Airport Stuttgart, Leinfelden-Echterding

Note: The Stuttgart central railway station doesn't equal to the one
that is directly located at the airport and thus you have to take the
S-Bahn which is another 30 mins travel. I suppose if you would be
heading to Frankfurt you would face a similar situation. So try using
bahn.de to plan your trip if you really intent to travel by train and
not by car.

With that in mind, I'd suggest you think about holding the meetup in
Heidelberg. It's about 30 minutes on the train from Sinsheim, where the
conference will be, and a direct train to Frankfurt airport (and I think
Stuttgart too?)

There are loads of hotels in Heidelberg, and some hostels, plus lots of
restaurants / bars / cafes etc. It also has a number of universitites, so
there's a chance we might be able to arrange some space for the meetup
there, if that'd be of interest. (I think some people on the list have
contacts with some of the Unis?)

If the meetup is Fri/Sat and I have a flight home at 10pm, I would need
to leave the meetup sufficiently early to catch the flight. The
distance to the airport directly affects this.

Thanks for the information

Closest airports are probably Stuttgart (STR), Frankfurt (FRA) and
Baden Airpark (FKB). STR is The latter isn't an international airport
so you would have in transit transfers. According to google maps STR
is the closest one to Sinsheim. In regards to closeness I wonder what
it means to you... the area is pretty packed and there's the German
autobahn which should get you to any of these airports within a
reasonable amount of time I suppose :)

I assumed some of us might be flying out on Saturday evening and hence
closeness to an airport would be an advantage.

I do, I'll have been staying at a venue close to ApacheCon for a week , and
go home
On the Sunday, so moving out of one Hotel and moving to another one for one
Night would seem a waste to me, but we'll see where we end up.

We'll be up to 10 people and we'll need a net connection. I don't think
we have a reason to care about being close to the venue wherein an
apachecon used to take place :)

Hard to say about airports, we don't have our flight arrangements yet.

Sadly nothing currently booked - we'll have given the venue back by
then, and I think there's a football match on one of those days...

Does it need to be at the same venue, or will nearby do? If you do need
the same venue, then we'll need to ask Paul to check with the venue
about the possibility of getting one of the small rooms, but it might be
rather pricey when we're not there for the rest of the things. If you
can go for somewhere that's within 30 minutes travel of the venue, then
I think you've plenty of very good options!

What are your requirements in terms of numbers / internets / beer /
proximity to the venue / proximity to airports / etc? Based on that, one
of the locals may be able to suggest the ideal thing for you :)
