Based on this discussion [here|https://lists.apache.org/thread/nxg2jpngp72t6clo90407jgqxnmdm5g4] there is no activity on keeping the feature up-to-date.

We should remove it from the main line to help ongoing development efforts and keep the testing cheaper/faster.
