JSP alternative to ASP.NET

Is there alternative to ASP.NET/Visual Studio

What I mean is there is something good as ASP.NET not just set of
controls. RAD tools like Visual Studio. May be commercial.

You could try Sun's Java Studio Creator, it does have features such drag
drop HTML control, I am not sure it has as much control functionality as
ASP.NET. I'll personally stay away from that stuff. Java Server Faces I
think is also related to that.

JavaServer Faces is basically the Java equivalent of ASP.NET. JSF lags
sufficiently behind ASP.NET IMHO though. I noticed that NetBeans has a new
add on called Visual Web Pack that might be worth checking out. It's only a
preview though.

There is a foundation version of JBuilder that is free, even for commercial use. This version
has a lot of the features that were previously only available in the developer or enterprise
version, such as gui app designer, database access compononets etc.

Hi Dima,

Read the article at this website: http://www.informit.com/guides/content.asp?g=java&seqNum=293&rl=1. It describes the Bea Workshop which used to be NitroX from M7. It is a great development environment for web application development only. It is not going to give you a whole lot of help when it comes to desktop applications as you would find in Visual Studio.NET. If your looking for help with desktop applications then I would think about JBuilder. Note that both of the aforementioned IDE's are expensive. If price is a consideration then I might look at MyEclipse or Struts Studio as an alternative IDE. Finally there is always Eclipse with WTP plugin.
