I need a way to enter npm credentials into jenkins in a secure way so we can publish our nightly snapshots (testing purpose only). This is the last step required for me to get nightlies to work. 

It was mentioned that role accounts could be configured to work. I have no idea what role accounts are and if they would help in this case.
