[Bug 119350] New: CoinMP (and any other EPL modules) should be in
NOTICE file of binaries
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=119350
Priority: P3
Bug ID: 119350
Assignee: ooo-issues@incubator.apache.org
Summary: CoinMP (and any other EPL modules) should be in NOTICE
file of binaries
Severity: normal
Issue Type: DEFECT
Classification: Application
OS: All
Reporter: robweir@apache.org
Hardware: PC
Status: CONFIRMED
Version: OOo 3.4 Beta
Component: code
Product: installation
Flags: 3.4.1_release_blocker?
Section 3 of the EPL 1.0 says that when we distribute EPL code in object form
our distribution must state that the "...source code for the Program is
available from such Contributor, and informs licensees how to obtain it in a
reasonable manner on or through a medium customarily used for software
exchange."
See: http://www.eclipse.org/legal/epl-v10.html
In other words we need a link back to the CoinMP website in our NOTICE file.
I think this should be addressed in the 3.4.1 release. We should also see if
there are any other EPL modules that we need to treat similarly.

--- Comment #2 from Rob Weir <ro...@apache.org> ---
Note also that CoinMP is just a thin wrapper around Clp and Cbc, which
themselves are built using CoinUtils, Cgl, and Osi. These are all separately
licensed and managed projects with separate SVN repositories. So we should
list them individually. That is the general idea of recursively listing 3rd
party dependencies so our downstream consumers have the comprehensive list.

--- Comment #1 from Pedro Giffuni <pf...@apache.org> ---
According to Apache policies we must carry links to the source code for all
category B licensed code. (The previous NOTICE file had them).
This issue is a release blocker.
