DOXIA - is the next release ready?

http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-3402 is dependent on beta-1 getting
released. We're about ready to do a 2.0.9 RC. Is Doxia ready to go out
the door ASAP? If not, we'll have to bump this one to 2.0.10.

Lukas changed the sink API and I guess some other changes could be
done. This coupling is a glue.
Making a component for MavenArtifactFilterManager could help us?

Cheers,

As Brett already said in JIRA, this might not work. For instance, the
DefaultPluginManager in maven-core depends on MavenReport which in turn
depends on Sink. This makes the ueber.jar include the doxia-sink-api and
puts it into the maven.core realm.

Right now, if a plugin wanted to use Doxia 1.0-beta-1 with Maven 2.0.8, it
will suffer from a NoSuchMethodError for enableLogging() because the Sink
interface in the ueber.jar lacks this new feature.

Therefore, it seems good to get at least the new doxia-sink-api into Maven
such that once plugins want to use Doxia 1.0-beta-1 there are already some
supporting Maven versions out.

We should probably wait until after 2.0.9 is released, bump
2.0.10-SNAPSHOT to beta-1 and then we have time if there are any issues.
If there is any risk, we should not shove it in 2.0.9 at the last
minute.

beta-1 is actually ready IMO, the two open issues are minor and can be
postponed.

However, I do not understand why you say that MNG-3402 is dependent on a

doxia release? The aim of MNG-3402 is exactly to make maven independent
of the doxia version. If your intention is to bumb to doxia-beta-1
everywhere then I would like to call for caution: beta-1 has seen a lot
of changes wrt the alpha branch and my feeling is that it's not tested
widely enough to be used bona fide at prime time. OTOH, there is
probably no better way to get it tested than to include it in maven...
