The runtime linking to libhdfs assumes a Linux ("libhdfs.so") or Windows ("hdfs.dll") name:

The Mac name is "libhdfs.dylib". I recommend making the logic to find libhdfs similar to the logic that finds libjvm.

I can submit a patch if desired.
