[Bug 122003] New: Missing tag on many webpages
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122003
Bug ID: 122003
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Missing <title> tag on many webpages
Classification: Infrastructure
Product: Infrastructure
Version: current
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: CONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: Website general issues
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: robweir@apache.org
CC: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Google is reporting that we have 874 pages on www.openoffice.org that are
missing titles. This is bad HTML. It also makes these pages look bad in
search engine results on Google, Bing, etc., since they don't have any title
text to display.
Some examples:
/EN/include.html
/FAQs/build_faq.html
/FAQs/mirrors_faq.html
/FAQs/ms-access/ms-access.html
/aa/
/about_us/1.1press_releaseb.html
/about_us/numbering_proposal.html
/about_us/ooo_release.html
/about_us/osx11_pressrelease.html
/about_us/pdl_jca_announce.html
/about_us/press_faq.html
/about_us/pressfaq_ooo-osx.html
/about_us/pressfaq_ooo-osx11.html
/about_us/setup_guide.html
/about_us/whatsnew.html
This is a good "easy" task for new volunteers interested in helping. I can
provide, on request, the current list of pages that are missing titles. A
volunteer can then download the website source, add titles based on a quick
review of the page, and then submit a big patch for the changes. I'd be able
to guide them through this.

List of pages with missing tit. from 2013/04/23
I worked on this bug for a while. The bug isn't fixed. Adding my track of pages
with missing titles.
This is old bug and some pages could be modified, maybe Rob can generate new
list.
