solr single threaded?
I read that Lucene search is single threaded. Does that mean Solr search is also single threaded?
What does it mean - that there are no concurrent searches & all searches are serialized? Can Solr take advantages of multiple CPUs?
Thanks.

Andy,
A single non-distributed search requests uses a single thread both in Lucene
and Solr. This is kind of normal, so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Otis,
Thanks. In that case what does it mean that "Lucene search is single threaded"? How is that different from the Solr behavior?

Andy,
Short answer: No, Solr will use multiple CPU cores and/or multiple CPUs if they
are present.
A single non-distributed search request runs in a single thread, but Solr (and
the servlet container you put it in) can handle a number of such threads in
parallel.
