[users@httpd] Apache / Java / MS Data Access Internet Publishing Provider DAV 1.1

Hi,

I'm facing a rather weird problem, I don't know if it belongs here 100%, but
it could so please read on.
We run a IBM HTTP webserver (Apache basically with some extra handles),
serving JSP's to our users.

Now, we have some hyperlinks in our application. Users can upload
documents, and we show them.
They can add all kind of Office documents, and, finally, here's the
interesting part.
Some users sometimes get errors.
What I noticed:
- they usually run an older version of windows, so I can assume they have
older software versions of everything
- in the error report, they browse with "Microsoft Data Access Internet
Publishing Provider DAV 1.1" or "Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing
Provider Protocol Discovery". In the last case, there also is an additional
header TRANSLATE [F]

Now, the error reports are from our application, not from Apache. Yet, I
wonder if Apache refuses to serve certain documents? I'm quite clueless...
We can't duplicate it, our browser identifies as "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible;
MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; iOpus-I-M; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)", which is IE6.
Users should not be able to alter these files.

We also allow images to be uploaded, and they don't generate these errors.

My questions:
- what on earth is "Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider"? Is
it office? The documents are set as content=file, so that they show in the
browser.
- is Apache the culprit here?
- are users trying to save these documents? Can they save these?

I hope some of you have answers to some of my questions :s

Thanks in advance!

Koen
