We are translating CouchDB's web site in Japanese.

Hi,

I love CouchDB. :)
I want to spread CouchDB in Japan.
I am translating the Web site of CouchDB into Japanese, with the companion.
So I have questions.

Firstly, may I open contents translated into Japanese ?

Next, if it is OK, we want to arrange a Japanese page on the site of CouchDB.
In short, publishing Japanese contents under this path.

http://couchdb.apache.org/ja/

Please advise me.

Oh, you meant you want to update the wiki. Okay, that is different. You can
start doing that yourself right now. I think MoinMoin has inbuilt translation
features, but you'd have to look into that yourself.

We will translate the difference on the page newly updated.

When CouchDB Wiki,
we can notice update from notification mail of Dev-ML.

I will use the update confirmation tool like the "hatena antenna"(*)
for the update confirmation of the Web site.

(*) http://a.hatena.ne.jp/ (in japanese)
http://bit.ly/AWZFA (translated into English)

Sending in patches will be okay for now.

Translation is an ongoing process.

Will you be able to update your translation as it is needed?

The last thing we want is a translated website that is out of date.

Thanks,

Hi, thanks for your advice.

We will translate by using po4a.

But, Is the part where the right of access is necessary good when doing very?

Now, I think that it is appropriate that what we translated into
Japanese by the PO form is sent, and the manager reflects it.

I think this would be great, but we should do it properly:

  * Translators should be given commit access to the /site directory.

  * Translations should be done with po4a[1].

  * Translated pages should use Apache content negotiation.

This would make the following choose the language automatically:

  http://couchdb.apache.org/index

We could also link to the translated pages directly:

  http://couchdb.apache.org/index.en
  http://couchdb.apache.org/index.ja

We could need to add some footer links to each page for language selection.
