Draft: Marmotta Logo and Branding
Dear all,
(resend from private@...)
our design department has spent some hours developing a nice logo and
branding for Marmotta. You can find the "final draft" in the link at the
bottom of this e-mail [1]. If most of you like it, I will ask our designer
to create the real images out of this draft. Otherwise, suggestions for
improvement are welcome. ;-)
We would still need to check with the trademark people at apache.org whether
the use of the feather in this way is acceptable for them. The trademarking
policies say that such use needs to be approved ;-)
What do you think?
Greetings,
Sebastian

Fair enough, but we'll need to see it to believe it ;-)
IMO a project logo is used much more often at relatively small sizes,
around 250x250px maybe.
(the marmotta looks great BTW, I should have mentioned that)

Hi Bertrand,
as far as I know our graphics designer, she probably has thought of this
already. For smaller sizes the logo would probably look different (same
concepts but different positioning of elements). But I will discuss this
issue with her. ;-)
Greetings,
Sebastian

Reducing the logo to a smaller size, the feather disappears for me and
the marmotta looks more like a unicorn ;-)

Nice design -- I wonder if the feather needs to be more identifiable if
it's going to be used in the logo.
(you can ask for verification on brand@)

Hi,
when looking at the logo I always recognize the blank white area between
"Apache" and the beaver. Wouldn't the feather fit perfectly into that
space? Just a suggestion to have some alternative design.
Anyway, I like it, too ;)
